Co-operative Bank
Maranchery Service Cooperative Bank came into existence as a cooperative society under society act on 1st March of 1974 and commenced its business on 14th April of the same year . The society was established by a group of promoters consisting of Ammanat Mamu , C. Mohamed Ali alias Koya , Thalakkat Mohamed , Manath Parambil Abdul Rahiman, Moideen Master, Indira bai Teacher, E.M Moosa . Ammanat Mamu was elected first president of the society. In the beginning , the activity of the society was to collect cashews in small scales and the society operated from the small room near the old bangalow. Mr. Abdurab was the only staff at the beginning of the society. Later , it was shifted to another nearest building in Maranchery itself.

In 1975, As a wish of Payyappulli Mohamed Kutty Sahib, his mother , Palli Manjayil Mariyakutty Umma donate a land of 5 and Quarter cent to construct own building for the society. Later the the society resumed its operation in its own building in this land . Now it has been decided to name this complex Payappully Mohamed Kutty Sahib Memorial Complex . The society started its first lending money in Kettu thengu lending system in which coconut palm as the pledge. During the time , Mr. Ramankutty s/o Kunnankalth Kalyanikutty Amma was the secretary of the society. The functioning of the bank was expanded by the board under the presidentship of Chanthipurath Chozhiyattel Maman .

The new leadership
In the midst of the advancement , the bank had to come across the many crisis. Due to sincerity and the leadership skill of the new elected president A.K Ali and with the support of the all other directors , the bank continued its journey forward overcoming all the crisis . Now it has been the last 25 years , the board under the presidentship of Mr. AK Ali run the bank. In 2006, the bank opened its branch in Purangu area.R. Soma Varma took over the responsibility of secretary after the retirement of K.M Parameswaran. The bank was in financial loss till 2014. Because of joint effort of board of directors and employees, the bank closed its books of account in profit and able to distribute 20% dividend . It was valuable to mention the help and support of the department personnel making the bank in profit. The service of Retired Assistant Registrar Jayarayaraj Sir as auditor at that time, to be mentioned in this occasion. 2014 onward bank retained in profit and during 2018- 2019 Bank upgraded its classification from level 1 to two. And in 2019- 20 it lifted its position to class 1 and in 2020-21 it again uplifted to Class 1 special grade.

In 2018, the second branch of the bank was opened in Panampad which was inaugurated by Mr. Sreeramakrishnan, the honorable speaker of Kerala Assembly of that time .It is all by the joint effort of board and employees it has come true that the complete banking system in its own building with all modern facility by availing NCDC loan. It is no doubt these all will be recorded in the history of the bank as a milestone.It is the MSCB the only bank in ponnani thaluk which provides 20% more loan in the agriculture sector. Even in COVID Pandemic situation, bank did not make any cut in its profit and able to distribute dividend to all its shareholders. Bank provides the loans such as Muttathe mulla,Vidya tharangini,CMHL Pravasi Loans as per government scheme.As a primary cooperative society, We recognise good farmers and appreciate them and provide interest free loans and provide fertilisers at reasonable price. As encouraging agriculture , a model vegetable garden in on acre is being set up by bank every year. More over , bank provide study materials to the students those are financially backward. The bank distribute drinking water at its own expenses to all the wards in maranchery panchayath. The bank stepped its service to the health sector . As a first step , it started in 2022 Neethi Pharmacy as well as neethi lab. Both of these ventures are working in good manner. The board is in discussion of starting a dialysis centre which wil be a great help to kidney patients

In the current board of directors includes , apart fro president, M.E abdul Nasar ( Vice President ), M.Poker, M.T Ubaid,A.V Kunhimon, N. Aboobacker, M.Aramukhan, K. Janaki Devi, M.Rasiya,Rubeena Sakkeer. There are 22 permanent staff including secretary Soma Varma and 4 collection agents and 3 appraisers are working in the bank
